In its weekly video report, the activist group Boomerang — Fighting for Israel responded to the international condemnation of Israel over the deportation of Omar Shakir — Human Rights Watch (HRW) Israel-Palestine Director. Shakir was forced to leave Israel after Israeli Supreme Court President Esther Hayut denied his appeal of a Lower Court’s decision rescinding his work visa.

Shakir, a foreign human rights official working in Israel, has repeatedly called for boycotts against Israel. As reported by NGO Monitor, “Shakir has been a consistent supporter of a one-state framework and advocate for BDS (boycotts, divestment, sanctions) campaigns, fitting the longstanding HRW practice of hiring anti-Israel activists to serve in key positions relating to Israel.”
